- An important tip for loading your Son of Hibachi™ with charcoal is to fill the unit then place the grills on the lowest level. Lift both sides of the barbecue and tap them together. This will settle the charcoal to the bottom of the unit. Open the unit and add more charcoal until the barbecue is full. This allows for a hotter and more efficient barbecue.
- Your Son of Hibachi™ will last for years. A light coat of vegetable oil after each use will keep the cast iron grills from rusting. All grills come from the factory with a light coat of food grade oil on them to keep them from rusting during storage.
- When you use your Son of Hibachi™ for the first time, leave it in the chimney position for about 20 minutes to thoroughly clean the grills before you begin cooking.
- Place cooked food under your Son of Hibachi™ to keep it hot.
- When using the Son of Hibachi™ Rotisserie, if the grills are not in use, remove them and you can add even more charcoal to the barbecue. This allows for steadier heat for a longer period of time.
- By lifting one side of a Son of Hibachi™ grill on its end you get more direct heat. You can cook 15 hot dogs in a minute.
- Turn your Son of Hibachi™ on its side and you can use it as an oven to cook fish, baked potatoes and more.
- If you are barbecuing for only 1 or 2 people fill only 1 side to save on charcoal.
